Terms of Service

Version 1 · Updated 29 September 2026

DRAFT FOR LEGAL REVIEW. These terms have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and are not in force. Everything in square brackets is a placeholder that must be completed before they are published.

These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use NestPrep. Please read them with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your information. By creating an account and ticking that you agree, you accept these terms.

1. Who we are

NestPrep is provided by [legal entity name], a company registered in South Africa with registration number [company registration number], whose registered address is [registered address]. In these terms "we" and "us" mean that company. You can reach us at [support email address].

2. Who can use NestPrep

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account, and able to enter into a binding agreement.
  • Children use NestPrep only through a kid device that a parent or guardian signs in, or as a profile an adult manages. The adult who sets up a kid device or a child's profile is responsible for that child's use of it.
  • You must give us accurate sign-in details and keep your account secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account, and should tell us straight away at [support email address] if you think somebody else has used it.

3. How a household works

NestPrep is built around a household: a group of people who share a calendar, lists, lunch plans and documents.

  • The person who creates a household is its first admin. Admins invite people, choose each person's role (admin, parent, kid, helper or carer) and decide what each helper, carer and kid may see and change.
  • You are responsible for what you put into a household about other people. When you add another person's details, such as a child's allergies, a grandparent's medication, a nanny's contact number or a copy of somebody's ID, you confirm that you are entitled to do so: that the information is theirs to share and they have agreed, or that you are their parent or guardian or otherwise have the authority to act for them.
  • Admins decide who sees what. Before you give a helper or carer access to an area, make sure you are comfortable with them seeing everything in it. You can change or remove access at any time.
  • A household keeps its shared records, such as events, lists and documents, when a member leaves. What happens to a household when its last adult deletes their account is explained in our Privacy Policy.

4. Using NestPrep properly

You agree not to:

  • use NestPrep for anything unlawful, or to store content you have no right to store;
  • upload content that is abusive, harassing, or that exploits or endangers a child;
  • try to get into another household, another person's vault, or any part of our systems you have not been given access to;
  • probe, scan or test our systems for weaknesses without our written permission, or interfere with their working, including by sending automated requests;
  • copy, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it; or
  • use a share link, calendar feed or invite to give strangers access to a household's information that its members would not expect.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and will tell you why unless the law or the safety of others prevents it.

5. Your content

Everything you and your household put into NestPrep, including events, lists, lunch plans, photos and documents, remains yours. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display it only as needed to run NestPrep for you and the people you share it with, as described in our Privacy Policy. That permission ends when the content is deleted, apart from backup copies, which are overwritten within the period our Privacy Policy states.

6. Allergies, medication and health: an aid, not a guarantee

This matters most, so we say it plainly.

  • NestPrep is not medical advice and is not a medical device. Nothing in it replaces advice from a doctor, a dietitian or a pharmacist.
  • Allergy and food-rule checks are an aid, not a guarantee. When NestPrep keeps an item out of a child's lunch plan, it does so from the allergens you or your household recorded against that item and that child. It cannot know about ingredients that were not recorded, recipes or products that change, cross-contamination, or anything a school or another person adds. Always read the label and check what goes into your child's lunch box yourself.
  • Medication, emergency and collection details are only as accurate as the people who entered them. Keep them up to date and make sure every carer knows how to reach you and emergency services directly.
  • In an emergency, call emergency services first. Do not rely on the app.

7. AI suggestions

Some features use artificial intelligence to suggest things, for example events read from a photo of a school letter. AI can be wrong. Suggestions are only proposals: check them before you confirm them, because nothing is added to your household until you do. AI features have monthly limits, which are higher on premium.

8. Location sharing

Sharing your location is always your own choice, for a window you choose, and it ends on its own. Only share with people you trust, and never use NestPrep to follow somebody who has not chosen to share with you. Positions can be inaccurate or out of date; the app shows how old each one is.

You may keep copies of identity and other important documents in NestPrep. Only upload documents you are entitled to keep. A document share link or a calendar feed link lets anybody who has it see what it points to until it expires or you reset it, so send it only to people you trust.

10. Premium and payments

  • NestPrep is free for a household with one child profile. Premium unlocks more child profiles and premium features for the whole household.
  • Premium is a subscription bought through the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. The store takes payment, and its terms apply to the purchase. Prices are shown in the app and the store before you buy.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You cancel in your Google Play or App Store account settings, not in NestPrep. Deleting your account or your household does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in the store too.
  • Refunds are handled by the store under its own refund policy. Nothing in these terms limits a refund you are entitled to by law.
  • If a subscription ends, the household keeps the children and information it already has but cannot add more child profiles or use premium features until it renews.
  • We may change prices for future periods. The store will tell you before a new price applies, and you can cancel before it does.

11. Availability and changes to NestPrep

We work hard to keep NestPrep running and your information safe, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors. Some features are offered as a beta or as early versions and may change or be removed. We may change, add or remove features; if we remove something you pay for, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.

12. Ending your account

  • You can stop using NestPrep at any time, and delete your account in the app under Account, then Privacy and your data, then Delete my account, or through [website domain]/delete-account. What deletion removes is explained in our Privacy Policy.
  • We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop providing NestPrep. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you the chance to download your data.

13. Our responsibility to you

The Consumer Protection Act, 2008 applies to your use of NestPrep where you are a consumer under that Act, and nothing in these terms limits any right you have under it or any other law that cannot be limited. [Legal review: confirm the Consumer Protection Act's application and the wording of this section, including section 49 notice requirements for the limitations below.]

Subject to that:

  • NestPrep is provided as it is and as available.
  • We are not responsible for loss caused by information that you or your household entered being wrong or incomplete, by a decision made on an AI suggestion you confirmed, or by things outside our reasonable control.
  • We are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss.
  • Where the law allows us to limit our responsibility, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid for NestPrep in the twelve months before the claim arose, or [minimum liability amount] if that is greater.

We do not limit responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

14. Changes to these terms

When we change these terms we change their version number and the date at the top. If the change matters, the app asks you to read and accept the new version before you carry on. If you do not accept, you can delete your account and download your data first.

15. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute will be heard by [the competent court, for example the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division, Johannesburg], unless the law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere, including to the National Consumer Commission or a consumer court.
